India Beat England With Controversial Run Out

Original Source: England v India: Controversial run out secures 3-0 series whitewash for visitors

Charlie Dean was run out at the non-end striker’s as Deepti Sharma stopped in her delivery stride to take the winning wicket.

It’s called a Mankad after Vinoo Mankad, the first player to do it in a Test.

The wicket drew attention away from Jhulan Goswami’s farewell and India’s 3-0 ODI whitewash of England, which culminated at Lord’s when England were bowled out for 153 chasing 170.

“It divides. “I’m not a fan, but that’s how India feels,” said Amy Jones. It’s in the rules; hopefully it won’t ruin a good summer and series.

“Dean had no other way out”

Harmanpreet Kaur, who was named player of the series, defended her teammate.

I thought you’d ask about the first nine wickets because they were tough. Part of the game We’ve done nothing new. ICC rules, she said.

I think it shows batters’ awareness, so I’ll back my players.

India wins with controversial wicket

End of an era: Cricket honors Goswami

The dismissal is allowed by the game’s rules: “If the non-striker is out of his/her ground from the moment the ball comes into play until the bowler would normally release the ball, the non-striker is liable to be run out.”

“In these circumstances, the non-striker is run out if he/she is out of his/her ground when his/her wicket is put down by the bowler throwing the ball at the stumps or by the bowler’s hand holding the ball, whether or not the ball is subsequently delivered.”

The MCC reiterated on Sunday that non-end striker’s batters should “remain in their ground until the ball leaves the bowler’s hand. Then, dismissals like yesterday’s can’t happen.

It continued, “Yesterday’s unusual end to an exciting match was properly officiated and shouldn’t be considered anything more.”

The MCC has moved the dismissal from ‘unfair play’ to ‘run out’ to clarify that it is legitimate, effective 1 October.

Many think the dismissal, which has only happened four times in men’s ODI cricket and never in women’s, is against the spirit of cricket. Some players expect a bowler to warn the batter if they feel they are wandering out of their crease.

“Hasn’t that left the sourest taste after this international summer? “I’m dumbfounded,” said Georgia Elwiss on BBC Test Match Special.

I can’t believe India thought that was the only way to get a wicket. Charlie Dean wasn’t trying to gain an advantage. Ridiculous.

“Harmanpreet Kaur must look at her side and ask, ‘Is that how we win cricket games?'” She can’t withdraw her appeal.

It’s ruined Jhulan Goswami’s big send-off. “She’s doing the lap of honor, but everyone in the stadium is stunned.”

England’s players were visibly unimpressed by Dean’s dismissal, and she was left in tears at the end of the game.

Alex Hartley said it wasn’t in the spirit of the game on BBC Test Match Special.

I can’t believe it happened, but I can believe Deepti Sharma did.

She threatens to do it so the team will talk about it. England got closer than India expected and she did it.

I don’t think that’s how to end an international game. The English will be livid.

“I wanted India to win, England to make a mistake, and India to win outright.”

Kate Cross, who took 4-29 to help bowl India out for 169, said she wouldn’t have done it.

“Ultimately, it’s Deepti’s choice how she handles it, and we’ve lost,” Cross said.

We said in the locker room that we didn’t lose the game because of the last wicket. Our loss is our biggest regret.

“A dismissal will always divide opinion, and that’s all that will be said. Some will like it, some won’t, and Deepti dismissed Charlie Dean this way.

“I’m more disappointed for Charlie that she couldn’t get a fifty at Lord’s today because she looked set to do that, and maybe that’s the only way they could get Deano out. So I’m sad for her.”

This dismissal may cause a rift between the two teams. Norcross says so on Test Match Special.

“This will be sour,” said Norcross. “I can’t predict how this will affect the two sides.”

“The quality of our cricketers is unreal. So it helps everyone level up. Our challenges keep coming. Every chance we get, we perform “said.
